Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul will finally collide next week in one of the year’s most fascinating fights.
Paul will make the leap to heavyweight for the first time in his career, and he is taking on a huge test as he goes in with the former champion of the world who still has world title aspirations for 2026.
Last year, Joshua was knocked out by Daniel Dubois inside a packed Wembley Stadium, but he had been planning a low-key return after training with the same team that guides Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua is hopeful of landing a big fight with Tyson Fury next year and that can only happen if he is impressive against Paul on December 19.
The popular YouTuber was set to be facing Gervonta Davis in November, but when that fight was called off, Paul jumped straight in with Joshua.
Paul will give up both size and experience to Joshua, but he still maintains that he will cause the biggest shock in boxing history when the fight gets underway.
Amir Khan is the latest high-profile figure to have his say on the contest, and he thinks it’s going to be a tough night for the American.
“Look, first of all, I think [MVP co-founder] Nakisa hates Jake Paul because he wants him dead I think. He really wants to see his own friend, his childhood friend, hurt. That’s wrong, he’s chasing the money,” said Khan when speaking to IFLTV.
“He’s put my man in the firing line against a heavyweight champion who can hurt him and literally cause him problems in the future as well.
“AJ hitting him with that big right hand. Oof. If AJ hits him with a shot like he hit Ngannou and knocked him clean out. Even Ngannou would knock Jake Paul out. You can’t mess with the sport of boxing.
“Boxing is a sport you have to respect. You’re one punch away from getting hurt. Something bad is going to happen one day and they’re going to regret it.”
