Is Andre Ward about to break a lengthy retirement and make a sensational return to the ring?

The Oakland fighter, one of boxing’s best fighters at his peak. Has stated that he is tempted by a showdown with Anthony Joshua in a fight that would see him make a huge jump to heavyweight.

The 2004 Olympic gold medallist enjoyed a stellar career that saw him reign as world champion in two weight classes as he dominated super-middleweight and light-heavyweight.

Facing some of boxing’s best names, Ward was able to collect wins over the likes of Carl Froch, Chad Dawson, and Sergey Kovalev before exiting the sport in 2017.

Since his retirement, Ward has hinted at several comebacks, but the majority of his time in boxing since then has been focused on punditry and analyst work.

With Joshua already linked to several fights including Tyson Fury and Jake Paul as he looks to rebuild from last year’s loss to Daniel Dubois, Ward is another fighter throwing his name into the mix.

“There’s one name that I brought up before that when you say that name I can see myself fighting him,” said his Ward when speaking on his X account.

“If the business was right and everything was right on that front, me and Anthony Joshua. That’s a fight that I would take at Wembley Stadium. It’s a dangerous fight for my legacy, it’s a dangerous fight across the board.

“But that’s a fight that would get me in the gym and get me in the mindset that I need to be in to go to war. It’s Anthony Joshua. I know he’s getting ready to fight Jake Paul, I ain’t talking about that. I’m talking about a real fight.”
