Turki Alalshikh was one of the first to congratulate Brandon Figueroa after his stunning win over Nick Ball inside a shocked M&S Arena in Liverpool.

Ball had been expected to retain his belt against the veteran American, and he entered the bout a significant favourite following a great run as WBA featherweight champion.

For 11 rounds, the pair exchanged blows in a memorable encounter, and all appeared up for grabs in the final session with both men being told they needed to win the round to give themselves the best chance of obtaining success at the end of the fight.

When the final session started, Figueroa landed a huge left hook as Ball was on the attack and the shot floored Ball heavily with Figueroa waiting to pounce on his stricken opponent.

Beating the count, Ball was allowed to continue, but Figueroa had no intention of letting the fight go to the scorecards as he followed up with another attack that forced Ball out of the ring leading the referee to end the bout.

In the immediate aftermath, Alalshikh offered Figueroa his best wishes and offered him the opportunity to fight on a huge show in September.

“A huge congratulations to Brandon Figueroa for showing his character by taking the risk and traveling to the champion’s backyard to capture the WBA featherweight championship with a great knockout in the final round,” wrote Alalshikh on X.

“We want to see you defend your title for the first time on September 12 in Riyadh, when we stage Mexico vs. The World – featuring the return of Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in the main event.”
