Anthony Joshua may already have two fights pencilled in for the remainder of 2026, but that hasn’t prevented Eddie Hearn from looking forward for his heavyweight charge.
Joshua returns to action on July 25 when he faces Kristian Prenga in Saudia Arabia on what is set to be another huge show featuring the former two-time world heavyweight champion.
If everything goes to plan on that date and Tyson Fury comes through a rumoured bout in August, then it looks like British boxing will finally have the fight it has wanted for the best part of a decade as Fury and Joshua will finally collide.
Whoever comes out on top in that huge meeting can head into next year focusing on the sport’s biggest prizes and Hearn has confirmed that Joshua wants to become heavyweight champion for a third time.
The heavyweight landscape has changed in recent years with Oleksmadr Usyk on top, but with young fighters like Daniel Dubois and Moses Itauma also enjoying success, Hearn has revealed that the latter pair could be realistic targets for Joshua if he gets past Fury.
“If you want to be world heavyweight champion again there is a very good chance you’re going to have to fight Moses Itauma, because I think he is going to be world heavyweight champion at some point,” said Hearn when speaking to Seconds Out.
“So whether AJ, once he beats Fury, whether he fights – he’ll want to fight whoever is champion. If Moses has a belt, he’ll fight him, if Dubois has a belt, he’ll fight him. It won’t be an issue. He’s never ever ducked one fighter, AJ, he’ll fight anybody.”
