Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to collide for a second time after it was announced the famous rivals would meet on September 19 in Las Vegas.
Over the past weekend, several members of the boxing media teased more major news following Conor Benn’s stunning switch to Zuffa Boxing from Matchroom.
It now appears that Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 was that blockbuster event after Mike Coppinger confirmed the fight was close to happening on Inside the Ring.
In 2015, after years of speculation and negotiations, Mayweather and Pacquiao met for the first time in what is still boxing’s biggest PPV attraction.
Despite the anticipation for the fight, the action could not live up to the hype as both men failed to get going with Mayweather carefully plotting his way to a points decision victory.
Floyd would only fight professional two more times, against Andre Berto and Conor McGregor, but he has remained active on the lucrative exhibition circuit.
Pacquiao seemingly walked away from boxing in 2021 after he was beaten by Yordenis Ugas, but he returned to the sport last year and was unfortunate not to become world champion again after being held to a draw by Mario Barrios.
Both men are promising victory ahead of their return, but who will have more left when the bell finally sounds later this year?
