Victory for Canelo Alvarez this weekend against William Scull will once again make the Mexican icon an undisputed champion at super-middleweight.

Another potential bonus for Canelo is a future showdown with Terence Crawford, with September mentioned for a possible date between the superstar pair.

Since defeating Errol Spence in 2023, Crawford has made it clear that a fight with Canelo is all he wants, and he will be watching eagerly when the first bell sounds on Saturday night.

To challenge Canelo, Crawford must make an almighty leap to 168lbs after enjoying one fight at super-welterweight, a points win over Israil Madrimov last year.

Despite having the skills to compete with Canelo, size could make a big difference and that’s one key advantage that Canelo will hold when they eventually go into battle.

Robert Garcia, the former trainer of Anthony Joshua, has been ringside for many high-profile bouts and he’s delivered his verdict on this potential clash

“Use your skills, speed, try to fight on the outside, and he does have skills. He is a very talented fighter,” said Garcia when speaking to KO Artist Sports about Crawford.

“I think he is going to put up some good rounds. Maybe at least five or six rounds. Eventually, in the later rounds, Canelo will start catching him and breaking him down. But I do see Crawford putting up [a good fight].”
