Oleksandr Usyk continues to conform himself as the world’s best heavyweight as he added to his impressive record last weekend with a stoppage victory over Daniel Dubois.
The Ukrainian master headlined a huge show at Wembley Stadium, and he was at his absolute best as he dominated from the outset before ending matters in the fifth session.
In the immediate aftermath of the bout, the attention switched to who Usyk may face with names like Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel mentioned as potential opponents.
Another fighter called out by Usyk was Tyson Fury, but it remains to be seen whether the former world champion will return to action.
Usyk already holds two wins over Fury after overcoming him twice in 2024, and it is not certain whether a trilogy meeting is what the public wants.
Teddy Atlas, a world class trainer who coached a young Mike Tyson, knows what it takes to guide a world class heavyweight, and he has given his thoughts on whether Fury should get a third chance to take on Usyk.
“I don’t wanna see it, I’ll tell you why. I’ve seen enough. I’ve seen Usyk beat Fury. I loved them both and they have done nothing but good for boxing and their family and themselves,” said Atlas on his podcast,
“They’re tremendous, they’re warriors, everything. I don’t wanna see it no more. Usyk won twice. The first one could have been a knockout if he didn’t hold himself back when Fury went down.
“He could have put that final blow in that would have hurt him. Been there, done that, seen that movie, don’t make another one.”
