Frank Warren has suggested David Adeleye as a potential opponent for Dave Allen when the Doncaster heavyweight returns to action.

Earlier this month, Allen attempted to put himself in the mix at the highest level at heavyweight when he faced the heavy-handed Arslanbek Makhmudov in Sheffield.

Allen was heavily backed by local support, but he found Makhmudov a difficult task to overcome as he was well beaten on points despite having some decent moments in the fight when he momentarily had his opponent rocked.

Victory over Makhmudov was likely to open the door for major showdowns against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, but Allen has admitted he is not quite good enough for the top level, and his next opponent, if he decides to continue, could come at domestic level.

Adeleye, a former British champion, was defeated by Filip Hrgovic in August, and like Allen, he is looking to rebuild.

The 28-year-old Londoner has been mentioned as a potential opponent for the fast-rising Moses Itauma, but if that fight doesn't come off, Warren, Adeleye’s promoter, would be open for his man to face Allen.

“Dave [Allen] always gives a brave performance, a nice guy, but he got well beaten – there’s levels that they’re all at. It’s sad and a shame that he got beat,” said Warren when speaking to IFLTV.

“Maybe a good fight for him at the moment is probably David Adeleye, someone like that. David [Adeleye] has got to get back in the swing of things after his last fight.”
