Moses Itauma faces the biggest test of his career on August 16 when he takes on Dillian Whyte in Saudi Arabia.
Last December, Itauma made an emphatic statement and confirmed himself as the future of the heavyweight division with a stunning first round over Demsey McKean.
The Australian contender was expected to provide Itauma with a significant challenge, but Itauma didn’t waste any time as he made light work of McKean.
Itauma followed that victory up with another quick win as he destroyed Mike Balogun in two rounds when the pai clashed in Scotland last month.
In Whyte, Itauma will be facing one of British boxing’s most well-known names who has been around the top of the division for almost a decade.
The former world title challenger holds wins over the likes of Derek Chisora and Jospeh Parker, but he has sometimes fell short when it has mattered most.
In 2015, Whyte was stopped by Anthony Joshua and when he received a world title crack in 2022, he was halted by Tyson Fury.
Whyte knows his way around the ring as well as anyone at heavyweight but Lawrence Okolie, a fighter who has sparred both Whyte and Itauma, believes it will be an easy bight’s work for the fast-rising Itauma.
“Moses is on a great run, a good trajectory,” said Okolie when speaking to The Stomping Ground.
“So, if they do fight, I think Moses will KO him in quick fashion, so yeah, good luck to him.”
