Oleksandr Usyk is backing Anthony Joshua to beat Tyson Fury if the pair finally clash this year.
After years of negotiating and goading each other, Joshua and Fury are now close to agreeing a deal with both looking to become world champion again.
Earlier this month, Joshua sat ringside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he watched Fury outpoint Arslanbek Makhmudov over 12 rounds.
In the fight’s immediate aftermath, Fury tried to get Joshua into the ring to publicise their feud, but Joshua remained seated as he opted to let Fury have the spotlight on his night.
Now training with Usyk, Joshua is hoping to return to the ring this summer just months after he was involved in a tragic car collision that killed two of his closest friends.
Usyk and Joshua were once rivals who shared the ring on two occasions, but the talented Ukrainian is now playing a big part in restoring Joshua’s confidence after he was beaten by Danile Dubois in 2024.
Joshua has since returned with a win over Jake Paul, but Fury is certain to represent an even sterner test as he looks to return to the top of the heavyweight division after also twice losing to Usyk.
In Britain to promote his upcoming fight with former kickboxing champion, Rico Verhoeven, Usyk gave his prediction to Sky Sports regarding Joshua vs Fury.
"I think AJ will do it, beat my friend 'Greedy Belly,'"
