Eddie Hearn is over the moon to have signed Odel Kamara after the Liverpool star recently put pen to paper with Matchroom.

The former amateur superstar was covered my many promoters, but he has now put his pro career in the hands of Hearn and will make his professional debut in October on the Ben Whittaker undercard in Birmingham.

With several high-profile fighters seemingly heading to the exit door in the next couple of years, British boxing needs new stars to fill the gap and Hearn is confident that Kamara can be that man.

Moses Itauma, Whittaker, Leo Atang, and Tiah Mai Ayton are also pushing to boxing’s next big thing so the next few years could get interesting with numerous fighters eager to carry the sport forward.

After signing Kamara, Hearn couldn’t hide his delight and getting his hands on the man he thinks could be the future of boxing.

“We saw it in the amateurs. Everybody knows, everybody in the amateur system, everybody in boxing knows, this is the new superstar of British boxing,” said Hearn when speaking to DAZN.

“Everybody wanted to sign him, we nipped in, we got it done, it was expensive, but it should be, because this is star quality, and this is the future for British boxing.

“Everybody stops me in the street all the time and says who should we be looking out for, we’ve got some great fighters, and he’ll one on the undercard of one of them – Ben Whittaker in a massive fight for his career – but when you look at young talent coming through over the next three to five years, this is him.”
